Obecny kryzys naftowy i nie tylko jeszcze się nie rozpoczął. Nic jeszcze nie widzieliśmy. I jest on bardzo źle zarządzany.
Pierwszą rzeczą, która powinna była się wydarzyć po skurczeniu się podaży ropy, było czekanie, aż cena ropy przekroczy 200 dolarów, a każdy produkt pochodny, którego to dotyczy, powinien również podjąć podobny krok. Jak dotąd ceny wzrosły bardzo nieznacznie, ponieważ są sztucznie zaniżane, aby zapewnić Stanom Zjednoczonym lepszą pozycję negocjacyjną z Iranem. Dlatego ludzie nie pracują nad rozwiązaniem problemu, ponieważ jest on przed nimi ukrywany.
Ludzkość jest świetna w koordynowaniu zbiorowej inteligencji, aby rozwiązywać problemy, które dotykają ogromne rzesze ludzi, tylko wtedy, gdy jest świadoma ich istnienia. Dlatego teraz jesteśmy zajęci czymś innym i nawet nie próbujemy przygotować się na to, co nadchodzi.
Z powodu kłamstw i ciągłych obietnic o rychłym zakończeniu konfliktu, nawet amerykańska krajowa produkcja ropy naftowej nie rośnie w maksymalnym tempie. Dzieje się tak pomimo tego, że jednym z celów całego konfliktu jest przesunięcie środka ciężkości dostaw ropy z Bliskiego Wschodu do USA. Zarządy tych firm opierają się na analizie opłacalności takiego posunięcia i słyszą, że nie jest ono wykonalne, jeśli Cieśnina Ormuz zostanie w pełni otwarta w przyszłym tygodniu lub około tego.
To ciągłe osłabianie wiarygodności amerykańskich urzędników uodporni opinię publiczną na zaufanie do rządu w najbliższym czasie, więc gdy nadejdzie szok podażowy, kryzys może szybko przerodzić się w panikę o ogromnych rozmiarach. Zrzucanie winy na drugą stronę nie zadziała, ponieważ ludzi ostatecznie nie obchodzi, kto stworzył problem, gdy lokalna stacja benzynowa jest pusta – musi go rozwiązać ich lokalny rząd.
Drukowanie pieniędzy i rozdawanie ludziom jeszcze większej ilości pieniędzy tylko pogorszy sytuację, ponieważ będzie to de facto obniżanie cen ropy i wszystkiego innego, co zwiększy konsumpcję. To tylko sprawi, że szok stanie się jeszcze gwałtowniejszy, gdy zobaczymy dno po stronie podaży.
Rozwiązanie jest proste i przerażające. Musimy mniej konsumować. Dlatego sygnały cenowe muszą być skoordynowane w całym systemie, informując o nadchodzącym szoku podażowym na długo przed pojawieniem się asymptotycznej rzeczywistości wykładniczej. Jeśli nie pozwolimy cenom wkrótce wzrosnąć, staniemy w obliczu nieelastycznego zderzenia z rzeczywistością, a ceny, których nie da się już dłużej hamować, spowodują, że ludzie będą w totalnym szoku.

The perfect crisis
.
The current crisis in oil and everything else has not yet begun. We haven’t seen anything yet. And it is being managed very badly.
The first thing that should have happened after the oil supply shrank was to wait for the price of oil to go way beyond $200, and every derivative product affected downstream should have made a similar move as well. So far, prices have risen very mildly because they are artificially suppressed to give the US a better negotiating position with Iran. Therefore, people are not working to solve the problem because the problem is being hidden from them.
Humanity is great at coordinating aggregate intelligence to tackle problems that affect great numbers of people only if they are aware of their existence. Therefore, we are now occupied with something else and are not even trying to prepare for what is coming.
Because of lies and constant promises about the imminent end of the conflict, even US domestic oil production is not increasing at the maximum pace. This is despite that being one of the goals of this entire conflict: to shift the center of balance of oil supply from the Middle East to the US. Boards of directors of those companies are relying on the analysis of the profitability of such a move, and they are told that it is not feasible if the Strait of Hormuz is fully opened next week or so.
This constant diminishing of the credibility of US officials will inoculate the public against trusting the government anytime soon, so when the supply shock comes, the crisis can escalate quickly into a full-blown panic of epic proportions. Putting the blame for the problem on the other side won’t work because people, in the end, don’t care about who created the problem when the local gas station is empty—their local government must solve it.
Money printing and giving people more money will only make things worse because it will work as a de facto lowering of the prices of oil and everything else, which will increase consumption. This will only make the shock more sudden when we see the bottom on the supply side.
The solution is simple and dreadful. We must consume less. Therefore, price signals must coordinate across the entire system that the supply shock is coming way before the asymptotic exponential reality finally arrives. If we don’t allow prices to rise soon, we will face an inelastic collision with reality, and the prices that can’t be suppressed anymore will melt faces.
